Yoheyy Nishio Live Painting, Lindee Hoshikawa Live Music

Yesterday I was really lucky to be at the live painting session (or should it be called a performance?) of Yohei Nishio at the Cafe Cesura, Bellevue.

The part which made this event stand out from a row of a similar art events around the city was that Yohei was painting Lindee Hoshikawa... while Lindee was singing.

.

That was an act of collaborative art because, as Yohei mentioned later, he was painting the portrait while inspired by the songs Lindee was singing that night and the multi-colorness of the painting was resulted by the blend of happy and sad motifs in her singing.
As an ESL person who was not really listening into the text of the songs (translating something lyrical as you listen to it kills all the "lyrical" part) I must to admit that Yohei amazingly accurate picked up Lindee's music that night as it was never shifting to a completely happy or overly sad tone staying a kaleidoscope of emotions Yohei put on canvas.

The overall event felt very cozy and absolutely not pompous or too "artsy" as some other events produced by the "fine arts community". An important part of that coziness was provided by the tea-coffee-pastry bar master called Nate who fueled the atmosphere with hot drinks and snacks.

The finished portrait. An amazing work made in just couple hours and I would bet that without using of any sketches or much preparation.
